My ultimate goal is to nurture the blossoming minds of children, youth, and young adults - providing them a space to embrace their true potential and finding harmony within themselves and the world around them.
During one-on-one sessions, I incorporate fun and interactive ways to connect with children and guide them in understanding their feelings, emotions, and behaviours. Sessions are designed to support their emotional and psychological well-being during this crucial stage of development. My role is to help them build coping strategies, emotional regulation skills, problem-solving techniques, and healthy communication patterns. I strive to ensure that families leave our sessions feeling supported, cared for, and equipped with effective resources that can be implemented into their daily lives, helping them reach their full potential.
Adolescents (Ages 13-18)
When I collaborate with adolescents, my primary focus is on building rapport and creating a trusting, safe, and connected environment. I believe in actively listening and ensuring that their voices and best interests are at the forefront of every decision-making process and approach. Sessions are designed to involve teens in helping them navigate through their experiences with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, and grief. My role is to support self-discovery, to enhance their understanding of themselves and others, and assist them in setting therapeutic goals that will lead to their overall happiness and success.
Young Adults (Ages 19+)
During these sessions, I cultivate a space that embraces and uplifts the individual journey, providing validation and support for young adults' unique experiences. By tailoring the approach to the specific needs of my clients, we'll incorporate various techniques such as mindfulness, trauma-focused therapy, and culturally-specific interventions. My collaborative approach will empower my clients to heal from trauma, nurturing a profound sense of self by fostering growth, self-reflection, and self-awareness.
AN ECLECTIC APPROACH
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
We will embark on a transformative journey to gain insight into and navigate emotional experiences. Together, we will delve into how the body responds to trauma, emotions, and stressors. Through a collaborative process, we'll explore personalized coping and self-soothing strategies to navigate challenging emotions using evidence-based approaches such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). We'll focus on building skills in emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. This holistic approach aims to empower clients to understand their triggers and bodily reactions, facilitating emotional growth and resilience.
I recognize the importance of my clients' unique voices and experiences, which may have been silenced due to family dynamics, cultural influences, or societal stigma. Rewriting one's story can support them in reclaiming their power.I strive to create a safe and nurturing space where clients can freely share their stories, unburdened by judgment or shame. My approach to narrative therapy will be customized to meet clients where they are at. I invite clients to weave a new story, one rooted in resilience, and to embrace a future defined by authenticity, wholeness, and infinite possibilities.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Harnessing the healing power of CBT, I provide clients with age-appropriate tools to help them gain control over their anxiety and unhelpful thinking patterns. Together, we'll embark on a cathartic journey, using interactive evidence-based CBT techniques including exposure therapy, a cornerstone of my practice. My intention is to empower clients to confront anxiety-inducing situations, to help them overcome fears and cultivate resilience.
